We at RF headquarters are pleased to announce that NICHE is joining the family. We’ve known the founding members Justin and Mike for over 15 years and their dedication to music has always been a major part to the individual personalities. What do they sound like? They play 70’s influenced rock with southern and psychedelic leanings. The current lineup includes Justin Dick (guitar/vocals), Michael Redmond (bass/vocals), Corey Barhorst (Hammond/synths; *Corey played bass in Kylesa off and on for several years), Lee Vallier (drums/percussion) and Kristopher Maedke-Russell (guitar/vocals).
What began as a simple three piece rock band has coalesced into a formidable quintet. Dual guitar solos, three part vocal harmonies, layered Hammond organ and synths and a powerful rhythm section fuse together to produce a sound that is both nostalgic and unique. Hints of Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy and Steely Dan can all be heard in their well-crafted songs. In December 2014, Niche went to The Jam Room in Colombia, SC to record their third album with longtime friend Phillip Cope at the helm producing the album. This will be their first record with their current lineup and will be released later this summer.
